About Our Wedding

Location

Our wedding ceremony and reception will be held in Athens, Ohio on the Ohio University campus. The reception will be in the Ridges Auditorium. The ceremony will be on the tree lawn just in front of the auditorium (weather permitting).

The Ridges Auditorium is building 223 located in sector 6C in this campus map: http://www.ohio.edu/athens/ioumap.html. See below for a close up view.

Day of Event Details

The ceremony will start at 3:30 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2015. A brief intermission will follow with appetizers and a chance to greet the bridge and groom. Dinner will be served thereafter. The reception will end around 10:00 PM.

Event Parking

There is free parking available in the lot directly south of the auditorium (lot 202) after 5 pm on weekdays and all day on the weekends. Additionally, lots 200 and 201 directly east of the auditorium offer free parking after 5 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends. Here is the campus parking map: http://www.ohio.edu/athens/parking/index.html.

If you happen to receive a parking citation, please call the Parking Services office as soon as possible to inform them it was an honest mistake and ask for a waiver. Ohio University generally waives the first citation for visitors. This is a University policy - not a gift for our wedding :) - and is subject to change. However, it's worth a shot to get out of a ticket! Further parking info can be found here: http://www.ohio.edu/parking/index.cfm.

Lodging

We have reserved 70 rooms at the Holiday Inn Express, located near the East State Street exit of highway 33. Here is a link to the hotel information: http://www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/hotels/us/en/athens/ahspd/hoteldetail. The hotel will hold these rooms up until April 21, 2015 (month before the wedding). Please mention you are booking for the Susan Lyons / Chris Tomazic wedding when you make your reservation.

Here are directions from the hotel to the Ridges Auditorium: https://goo.gl/maps/bxWRK

There are also many state parks within a 30 minute drive that offer primitive and cabin camping, as well as other hotels in Athens that have more economical prices. We would recommend: Lake Hope State Park (http://parks.ohiodnr.gov/lakehope#reserve), Burr Oak State Park (http://parks.ohiodnr.gov/burroak#reserve), Strouds Run State Park (http://www.lakehillcabins.com/strouds-run-campground/), and The Highlander Inn (http://www.highlanderathens.com/).
